One quiet afternoon, a neighbor showed up at POR Arak with a tiny black kitten in their hands. The little ball of fur looked up at me with wide, curious eyes, as if she already knew she belonged here.

“She’s a female cat,” the neighbor explained, “and all my cats are male, so we couldn't keep her. She’s also black, which people see as unlucky. No one wants her. Can she stay here?”

I hesitated. We’re a hotel, not a home for stray animals. What would our guests think? Would our team be willing to care for her? But as I looked at the tiny kitten nestled in the neighbor’s hands, I realized she was looking for more than a home—she was looking for a chance. After a moment’s thought, I said,

“Yes, she can stay.”

She was named Jai Sai, which means “clear heart” in Thai, and she wasted no time making herself at home. The moment I placed her on the floor of the reception area, she began exploring every corner, walking confidently as if she had always been part of the team. She wasn’t afraid of guests or the bustling activity of the lobby. Instead, she thrived in it, boldly approaching anyone who looked her way.

To my surprise, everyone fell in love with her instantly. Guests would stop to pet her, take photos with her, and even include her in their reviews. Jai Sai quickly became more than just a resident cat—she became the star of POR Arak.

Her playful antics and affectionate nature turned her into the ultimate icebreaker. She would greet guests at check-in, follow them to the lounge, and even curl up next to them while they relaxed. It didn’t matter where you were from or how long you were staying—Jai Sai had a way of making everyone feel special.

She wasn’t just a pet; she was a part of the experience. Guests would often ask about her, bring her treats, and even share stories of how meeting her brightened their day. Jai Sai has become a symbol of what we stand for at POR Arak—a welcoming spirit, an open heart, and the magic of finding joy in unexpected places.

So, if you ever find yourself at POR Arak, don’t be surprised if you’re greeted by our little black cat with a big personality. Jai Sai may have started as an “unlucky” kitten, but she’s turned into the luckiest charm we could have ever asked for.
